In Internment Camps...
the Japanese were given the choice on whether they wanted to join the U.S. Army or live in the camps. Some people wanted to stay in the camps because they didn't have a place to live. The purpose of the internment camps were not to torture the Japanese. The Americans believed that there were Japanese spies and so that they couldn't gain any information, so they put all the Japanese citizens into the camps. Although they had uncomfortable living conditions and were incredibly discriminated by the Americans, life in the internment camps were a lot "better" than life in the Nazi concentration camps. The Americans fed them and didn't try to kill them, unless the civilians tried to escape. The Japanese were also able to have fun living in the camps and many civilians still chose to join the army. These camps lasted three years, from 1942 to 1945.t

In Concentration/Extermination Camps...
the Jews had no say in anything, they were put into concentration camps with the intention to work them to death. The extermination camps were made solely to mass murder the Jews. Also these camps were made through means of discrimination. About 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust, which lasted from 1933 (the first concentration camp was built in Dachau) -1945, (the end of World War II) it was nine years longer than the Japanese Internment camps. The main difference between the camps were the treatment of the civilians. The Jews were treated inhumanly unlike the Japanese American.
